MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 30 June 2023 - The Royal Brunei Navy today held an event to distribute korban meats in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha 1444 Hijrah at Dewan Samudera, Muara Naval Base. The distributions were made to RBN personnel and a total of 26 Asnaf recipients. The event began with a recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah, Takbir Aidil Adha and Asmaul Husna led by Ustaz Muhammad Sabqi bin Nasar.
Present to distribute the sacrificial meats was Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander RBN. Also present were RBN Senior Officers, Officers, and other ranks, and community leaders including the Acting Ketua Kampung of Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun, and Pelumpong and Ketua Kampung Kapok.
The event concluded with performing Fardhu Asar Prayer and distribution of the korban meats to the Imam, Bilal and RBN personnel at Surau Al-Huda, Muara Naval Base.
This Korban distribution event serves as one of the religious practices that falls under Sunnah Muakkad, which reflects and signifies the sense of gratefulness to Allah the Almighty for all the blessings that have been bestowed in life. Apart from performing good deeds and religious obligations, this practice also serves to cultivate a sense of caring and compassion for the community while at the same time strengthening relationships among Muslims. Hence, it is also to create awareness to look after our neighbours particularly to those in need.
